Classroom and Driving Course

Joshua’s Law (Teens only)

Course Information

Driving is an essential aspect of our lives but carries various risks The state of Georgia now mandates Joshua’s Law for teens between the age of 15-17 before scheduling a road test for the C-license. Albany Technical College provides 30-hours of classroom instruction and 6-hours of in-person driving, which complies with Georgia’s Joshua Law.

Teens 15-17 may apply for the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission Grant Scholarship(GDEC). A valid Georgia learner’s permit (CP) is required to apply for the Scholarship.

Georgia Teens

First-time teen drivers looking to apply for your Georgia Driver's License must have met the following requirements before scheduling for a road test with the DMV:

  1. Hold an Instructional license (CP) for 1year and 1 day
  2. Have a Joshua’s Law certificate
  3. Obtain a Georgia DDS certificate of attendance form from school
  4. Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program card (ADAP) from your middle or high school or EDAP (online).

Teens who have not completed Joshua’s Law must be 18 years old to apply for a Class D driver's license.
