Course Requirements

  • Ages 15-17
  • A valid Georgia learner’s permit is required to participate.
  • Students must attend all scheduled lecture sessions (30 hours) and behind-the-wheel training (6 hours)

Georgia Driver’s Education Commission Grant/Scholarship

  • Must be between the ages of 15-17
  • Scholarship applications are due on the last day of each month.
  • Award or denial notifications are issued on the 1st of each month and sent via email.

Please note that scholarships are not awarded by Albany Technical College. Therefore, Albany Tech cannot check the status of scholarship applications. The Georgia Driver’s Education Commission (GDEC) operates the scholarship program, so any scholarship-related inquiries must be directed to GDEC. Program eligibility information is available on their website.

One-on-One Driving Lessons

Build confidence behind the wheel with personalized, one-on-one driving instruction.

These lessons focus on essential driving skills, traffic laws, safe driving practices, and practical tips to help you become a safer and more confident driver.

While these lessons are not required, they are an excellent way to refresh your driving skills and prepare for your DMV road test.
